INSTRUMENT ASSISTED SOFT TISSUE MOBILIZATION

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a technique using stainless steel tools to effectively treat soft tissue dysfunction, such as a sprain, strain, or overuse injury. When the body heals from these injuries, it often heals in a disorganized manner consisting of scar tissue and adhesions that may limit range of motion and function. The purpose of IASTM is essentially to "restart" this healing process in a controlled manner to facilitate remodeling of the affected area. IASTM can help to stimulate the tissue to heal in a more organized pattern that will improve ROM and function, as well as decreasing pain.
